The term Smart City<\/b> refers to an urban area where the efficiency of the services and infrastructure can be improved through digital technologies and innovation.<\/p>\n

However, the concept of the smart city goes beyond the use of digital technologies for a more efficient use of resources, as it encompasses a new way of looking at the urban context, with a focus on energy efficiency and the well-being of its citizens.<\/p>\n

In particular, the definition of Smart City<\/b> also includes smarter urban transpor<\/b> networks (Smart Mobility<\/i>), improved water<\/b> supply and waste<\/b> disposal facilities (Smart Waste<\/i>), and more energy efficient ways of lighting<\/b> and heating<\/b> buildings (Smart Building<\/i>).<\/p>\n

It’s a new vision of the city sphere that also includes a more interactive and responsive administration<\/b>, safer public spaces<\/b> (Smart Security<\/i>), and a better fulfilment of people\u2019s needs (Smart People<\/i>).<\/p>\n

THE BENEFITS OF A SMART CITY<\/h2>\n

As noted, the term Smart City<\/b> refers to the monitoring and management of the elements of a city<\/b> (such as transport, public lighting, and parking) and its surrounding environment<\/b> (e.g. rivers, forests, mountains), in order to render it more liveable<\/b> and <\/b>sustainable<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In fact, the transition from a \u201ctraditional city\u201d to <\/i>a \u201csmart city\u201d<\/i> creates numerous opportunities<\/b>, such as:<\/p>\n

– reduction of energy consumption;<\/p>\n

– optimisation of waste collection;<\/p>\n

– improvement of public transport;<\/p>\n

– reduction of urban decay.<\/p>\n

These and other benefits help cope with urban population growth, and reduce the impact of cities on the environment and pollution, which is why the public funding for national and international events and initiatives on this topic is growing.<\/p>\n

RESTART SMART CITY: A NEW VISION OF THE URBAN REALITY<\/h2>\n

At the beginning of 2022, Restart group set up a new company specialising in the Smart City sector, thus intercepting the growing demand from ESCOs and public administrations.<\/p>\n

In keeping with the trend of the other Group companies, the name chosen for the new Brescia-based company was Restart Smart City, and, in addition to public lighting (already the group’s core business), it has also adopted an innovative approach to the development and integration of cities and their surrounding territories.<\/p>\n
